Junior Common Room

Breadcrumbs

The Junior Common Room (JCR) refers to both the undergraduate community at St Peter's, and also the common room itself, which serves as an area in which all undergraduates can interact and socialise.

The JCR of St Peter's consists of around 350 members, doing a range of degrees from both the arts and sciences. The common room is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and serves as a venue in which people can socialise and relax. It is located beneath the Matthews building, next to the bar and gym. It contains a large plasma television with DVD player, a pool table and various games machines which change periodically. Newspapers are delivered on a daily basis.

Each year a committee is elected to represent the views of the JCR to the senior members of college, organise social events and to promote student welfare. The committee also plays a role in informing JCR members about upcoming events throughout the university as a whole. The JCR is used for various larger-scale events including the annual college pantomime and student bops.
