The Reverend Moxon has newly been appointed as Archbishop of the Anglican Church.  On 11th May 2006, he was installed as one of three Archbishops to head the Anglican Church in New Zealand and Polynesia, in a new-style leadership, a shared primacy aimed at honouring the Church's cultural strands of Maori, Pakeha and Pacific Islanders.

The division of leadership along ethnic lines has been described by the Church as a bid to accommodate cultural diversity, and not evidence of doctrinal rifts.  Archbishop Moxon describes it as "very new, very exciting, and rather over-awing".
