Philosophy and Modern Languages

This course brings together some of the most important approaches to understanding language, literature and ideas. It combines the analytical rigour of philosophy with the critical and linguistic skills that are required for the modern languages element of the degree, which is constructed in the belief that parallel study of these disciplines significantly enhances the understanding of each. For further details about the course see www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk and www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk .

The degree takes four years to complete, since students spend their third year abroad in the country of the language studied: see the main Modern Languages page for details.
