English and Modern Languages
This combination is ideal for those with a strong interest in Western literature and languages, developing practical linguistic skills in one of the seven modern European languages offered at St Peter's, as well as giving an opportunity to study a wide range of literature from both that language and from English. Students will gain skills of textual criticism, relevant to the literature encountered in both strands of the course.
The degree takes four years to complete, since students spend their third-year abroad in the country of the language studied: see the main Modern Languages page for details.
Teaching at St Peter's
The College normally admits two students per year for this course. Tutorial teaching in both English and Modern Languages is provided by the College's tutors; students also benefit from specialist language tuition in tutorials or classes.
